Practical Suggestions for Caregiving
Mary Ann Drummond, RN, DCP, CADDCT, and CEO of Angel Tree Consulting, has a passion for presenting innovative and successful strategies in both caregiver and provider settings to assist individuals with dementia “live their best” each day. With over thirty years of nursing experience and sixteen years as a VP in the assisted living industry developing programs for dementia care, she credits much of her expert knowledge to the greatest teachers of all, those who live daily with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Author of “Meet Me Where I Am – An Alzheimer’s Care Guide” and “I Choose to Remember – Reminiscing Therapy Aide”, Ms. Drummond enjoys working with organizations across the country to increase successful outcomes in dementia care.
Teresa Salazar-Catron, MD, CMD
Dr. Catron has been practicing in Blount County since 2003. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She received her Medical Education at the James H. Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City, and in her post graduate education, found a new passion in geriatric medical care.
Dr. Catron serves as Medical Director at several skilled nursing facilities in Blount and Monroe counties, focusing her medical practice on our most frail elders. As a natural follow up to her work in long term care, she has become more involved in end of life care, serving as Medical Director of Blount Memorial Hospital’s Hospice and Palliative Care program. Dr. Catron is an active member of the Blount Memorial Hospital medical staff, having served the hospital in a number of roles, most recently as Chief of Staff.
After many years of practice in Blount county, she partnered with like-minded Physicians and Nurse Practitioners to form Blount Senior Care Partners. Their mission is to create a new model of care serving seniors in Blount and surrounding counties, leading to improvements in access to and continuity of care in multiple venues.
Dementia and the Law: What You Need to Know
Kelly Frere, CELA, Guyton & Frere received her J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1991 and was certified as an elder law specialist by the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization in 1998. She was inducted into the Council of Advanced Practitioners of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and is one of only 64 out of 4,500 elder law attorneys to be honored with this peer induction.

We provide information to Veterans and families on all federal and state benefits earned by Veterans in their service to their country.
Objective: The purpose of Alzheimer's Tennessee, Inc.'s Caregiver Training series is to educate professional and family caregivers on Alzheimer's disease and give useful information concerning dementia care. After completing the training, the participant should have:
- A better understanding of the disease, its process and available treatments.
- Practical tips for caring for the individual with dementia.
- Legal issues as they relate to caring for someone with dementia.
Cost: The full-day training will include all handouts as well as lunch. Conference fees are $25 for family care partners and $45 for professional care partners. Professional fee includes 6 CEUs for administrators of residential homes for the aged as well as assisted living facility administrators.
