Caregiving Tips

Cheryl Blanchard , LMSW, CPLC is a licensed social worker, Certified Professional Life coach, Dementia Care Consultant and speaker in Knoxville, TN. She has worked with seniors throughout East Tennessee for several years as a social worker, geriatric care manager, and dementia educator. Cheryl developed a dementia care protocol for home health agencies and has a passion for serving those affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

Cheryl believes that dementia impacts the entire family and focuses on educating and supporting caregivers throughout the disease process. She provides stage by stage guidance and emotional support and assists families with making difficult decisions.

 

Legal Issues

Monica Franklin, CELA,is a Specialist in Elder Law, commonly known as a “CELA” (Certified Elder Law Attorney) by the National Elder Law Foundation. For 17 years Monica has represented clients with the goal of helping them achieve the best possible quality of life and to give families peace of mind. They combine expertise in elder law with a team of other professionals, including Licensed Clinical Social Workers, and Public Benefits Coordinators, to provide the highest standard of comprehensive representation.


Objective: The purpose of Alzheimer's Tennessee, Inc.'s Caregiver Training series is to educate professional and family caregivers on Alzheimer's disease and give useful information concerning dementia care. After completing the training, the participant should have:

  • A better understanding of the disease, its process and available treatments.
  • Practical tips for caring for the individual with dementia.
  • Legal issues as they relate to caring for someone with dementia.

Cost: The training includes all handouts. Conference fees are $25 for family care partners and professional care partners.
