Practical Suggestions for the Alzheimer's Caregiver

Cheryl Blanchard , LMSW, CPLC of Lifepoints Consulting is a licensed social worker, life coach and dementia care specialist. She speaks frequently on Alzheimer's disease and is passionalte about equipping caregivers to both care for their loved one and themselves.

An Overview of Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias

O.H. Oliveira, PhD, Clinical and Medical Psychologist will discuss the medical aspects of Alzheimer's and related dementias. Dr. Oliveira served as the clinical director of Covenant Health Senior Services and authored the book "Living with Old Age".

Elder Law and Alzheimer's

Glen Kyle,  JD, is an elder law attorney with Monica Franklin and Associates. He will address important legal topics that are relevant to the Alzheimer's caregiver.  

Objective: The purpose of Alzheimer's Tennessee, Inc.'s Caregiver Training series is to educate professional and family caregivers on Alzheimer's disease and give useful information concerning dementia care. After completing the training, the participant should have:

  • A better understanding of the disease, its process and available treatments.
  • Practical tips for caring for the individual with dementia.
  • Legal issues as they relate to caring for someone with dementia.

Cost: The full-day training will include all handouts as well as lunch. Conference fees are $25 for family care partners and $45 for professional care partners. Professional fee includes 4.25 CEUs which are pending for administrators of residential homes for the aged as well as assisted living facility administrators and nurses.
